Just steps from the shores of Lake Orta, our rooms are designed to offer you the rejuvenating silence of our birch forest. Each space is unique, lovingly cared for, and designed to make you feel, quite simply, at home. This is the perfect spot for exploring the area, following Elena and Simone’s recommendations.
Day 1: Stroll through Orta San Giulio, an Orange Flag village, and take the ferry to San Giulio Island. A unique place of silence and meditation, perhaps taking the ferry from Pella.
Day 2: Climb the Sacred Mount of Orta (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) for a breathtaking view, visit Legro, the painted village, and return to San Maurizio for an aperitivo at Noi.
The Lake from Above: A hike to the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Sasso, right above us, for a view of the entire lake as if from a natural balcony.
Nature and Sports: E-bike rental (we’ll help you book) for a tour of the lake or a trek to Mount Mottarone, from whose summit you can see up to seven lakes.
Shopping and Design: A visit to Omegna, Rodari’s birthplace and historic homeware district (Alessi, Lagostina), to combine culture and shopping.
Total Relaxation: A “slow” day among our birch trees, a book from our library, and a signature dinner at the restaurant next door.
Lake Orta: Set off along our shores toward Omegna.
Lake Mergozzo: A stop at this small body of crystal-clear water, perhaps after a bit of shopping at the “Le Isole” shopping center in Gravellona Toce.
Lake Maggiore: Head down toward Stresa for an excursion to the Borromean Islands or a stroll through the Villa Pallavicino Park.
Arona: Before returning, a must-see stop at San Carlone. Did you know it’s the second-tallest statue in the world that can be visited inside? It was the model for the Statue of Liberty in New York!
Did you know? You can climb right inside the Giant’s head! Looking out through the eyeholes, you’ll enjoy a unique view of the Rocca di Angera and the lake. The statue faces Arona in a gesture of eternal blessing: an invitation to look at the world with new eyes, just as we do here at the Villa.
